Sore bones, sore heads
So we went from hard bed to small bed and sleep was dodgy at best.
We eventually made it to thun after breaking down somewhere in France. The Sheriffs to the rescue with some cable ties!!!!
Down to the town square for a couple of junfrau beer before that nasty thunder and lightning hit. A burger and bed!
Fast forward to this morning when we got our turbo hose working.
I love the rally but the drive today is gonna be a killer.

So after a fan belt letting go and various new noises we finally checked in to Hotel Motel Lowen. Driving through insane lightning and rain we missed check in by 2mins (half-past midnight) instead of turning us away they upgraded us to a massive suite with a bath and mini bar. We were determined not to miss the third meet up of the day but we have! Chuffed we and the Scirocco made it through the five countries and we got to spend some time in each... See you in the morning!! The Scallywags.

Blog
Arrived in Thun after a 12 hour drive around some of the best looking motorways I have ever seen in my life. And to top off such a day my Sat nav took us up some very nice single track mountain roads. Ready for tomorrow now :)

Update from the Unstoppables. Out little 1.3 skoda is running fine (for now) not looking forward to tomorrow's driving through the alps though! We are about 45 mile from Thun can almost smell the sweet nectar from the cold beer - if it wasn't for the traffic ! See you all soon

Dublin P.D here, seems we may have run into a little issue. Coming out of Germany and it looks like we have blown a turbo hose! Were still driving but will need sorting out tonight before the alps. Do you know of anyone with Volvo experience??

Day 1 so far....
After discovering McDonalds is not open until 10:30AM in France, we too have had to amend our to diet to one of Pringles and Coke!!!
Now we are watered and fed we are heading to Saarbruken where we hopefully join up with some other cars!!
We have also seen what seems to be a 'Hells Angels' type rally too!!

Official Day 1
It's really the second day for us. We did drive from Ireland yesterday and across the great Great Britian!!!!
So after some fosters, and a kebab we are ready to get going on the road to thun. For future reference, when a hotel like the ibis has 'budget' in it's title, you should not expect anything! That includes a comfortable mattress.
We thought we did a good job on our car, then we saw the others and our illusions of grandeur disappeared rather quickly on inspection of other cars.
Currently we are 160 miles down, a toilet break and a change of driver are not the only essential things. The coke and Pringles is the staple diet for today, and no doubt the weekend.
We are driving, driving for that cold beer in Thun!!!
